Ummmm...fall. I like how pretty the leaves are. The snow is pretty in winter but I'm not a fan of the cold.

Leaves changing colors. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday (football + i'm a fatty). Football season is in full swing and basketball tips off.

Snow is pretty. I get presents. It is the prime of the video game season. Break from classes. Snow days are a fucking amazing thing. More football and basketball.

More time off of school. Playing baseball. Old friends coming home from schools and getting to see them. Swimming and an excuse to lay around naked.

WVU is a fucking class act of a school. I am not too familiar with them or their sports program...however after reading this article I will certainly be rooting for their success for years to come...

I'm not normally one to speak much on "class" in sports, however this one really blew me away on a lot of levels...the outcome of this game was not as important as the game itself for Uconn. For those of you who HAVEN'T heard, a star Uconn CB named Jasper Howard was stabbed and killed last Sunday. The team then traveled to #23 WVU this week for their first game since the stabbing. It marked the beginning of the healing process. The things that stood out to me far more than the final score or the highlights or the statistics...

"The crowd at Mountaineer Field gave UConn a lengthy ovation as the players took the field. West Virginia coach Bill Stewart gave Connecticut's Randy Edsall a hug and the teams exchanged handshakes before kickoff."

"UConn running back Andre Dixon and wide receiver Kashif Moore carried Howard's helmet and No. 6 jersey from the lockerroom before kickoff. Players from both teams wore stickers on their helmets during the game, won by West Virginia 28-24."

"A banner signed by West Virginia fans that read "Today we are all Huskies" was displayed in the Connecticut tunnel entrance to Mountaineer Field. Other signs in the crowd read "In memory of Jasper Howard, 1989-2009," and "Husky Forever, JH."

Hundreds of foam, heart-shaped pins and armbands with Howard's number on them were distributed at the main entrance to the stadium.

"It means so much," said West Virginia student Kacy Korczyk, who made the pins. "Just by him being a college student, I know he relates a lot to us. This being their first game, we needed to do something for it.""

That is all incredible to me. It is almost unexpected as sports fans can be quite brutal and uncaring when It comes to opposing teams, but this was absolutely awesome. Uconn football is program that has drastically grown in popularity in this state, and is a program the state is quite proud of. It was a REALLY big deal here when news broke out about this stabbing, you couldn't turn on a news station for days without Jasper updates all over the place.

As a Uconn football fan I was proud to be rooting for the losing team today, and I will forever be rooting for WVU and the kids on that team and their success in the future. What they did really warmed my heart.

Sonic The Headgehog for Becky...

I remember when I was a young lad, my friend down the road purchased a Sega Genesis with Sonic The Hedgehog. I would go to his house almost everyday and we would play sonic until we had blisters on our thumbs and our minds turned into video game mush. The problem was, like many games at the time, there was no save system. So everyday we started back on level one and tried to beat the game and everyday we failed for months. Finally, one hot as hell August afternoon, we beat it. The final boss was lame, but that didn’t matter, it was the accomplishment that mattered. This game had brought me much close to my friend, who I’ve never lost contact with. Problem was, once we conquered the game, we no longer needed to play it. I never touched the game again.

Until about a year ago when they released the game on the Xbox live Arcade. There were obvious improvements to the game. Now there was a save system (which made beating the game far easier to accomplish), online multiplayer, and ran at a higher frame rate so you don’t get random slowdowns during gameplay. None of this mattered. What mattered is that the game, 15 years later, still captured the magic of when I was a kid desperately trying to win the game. I could now go through the game by myself and (with a lot of help from a save file) beat the game again and again. I still get that feeling of accomplishment I felt when I was younger.

Now again I hardly touch the game. I will occasionally run through a couple stages or hop online and play (kick someone’s ass) in multiplayer. The game doesn’t have the same longevity, but it is timeless. I look forward to ten years from now, downloading the game on the current big game system at the time, and enjoying the game like I did 25 years earlier.

Dream Theaters album is good...but this is to be expected. They've been pretty fucking consistent for 20+ years and know how to make music the fans love...done and done. I will say Shattered Fortress is the shit and I want to rub it on my nuts despite it essentially just being a remix of old stuff...

Eminems new album is getting too much crap. Ems music may not be what it once was that's for sure, but it's also better than most of the other stuff rappers are releasing these days. I'm still dying for a new Dr. Dre album.

Unrelated to music...gamefly is a must have for any and all gamers. I have a minor complaint here or there but it is overall a very good service that is relatively cheap considering how much a game is these days.

Only the Magic interest me a whole bunch in the NBA finals. I'd like to see Lebron vs. Kobe (different positions be damned) but I'd also like to see Dwight vs. Melo. I'd like to see this because I think Dwight would kill Carmelo...and Melo is an ass hole and should get stomped.

The only other team I picked wrong were the Blazers over the Rockets but that's partially because I don't believe I've seen either of those teams more than a couple times this year and really had no idea their actual talent levels. Not shocked I got that pick wrong. The rest were pretty predictable results.

"While traditional college powerhouses like Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Michigan and LSU are missing in action at the 2009 NFL Draft, there is one upstart having a banner year.

The Hurricanes were riding a streak in which they had a player picked in the first round for 14 straight years — an astonishing accomplishment that may never be duplicated, but that run came to an end this year. In fact, if CB Bruce Johnson does not get chosen somewhere in the late rounds, Miami may not have a single player drafted. That hasn’t happened since 1974.

Notre Dame, meanwhile, also failed to land a single player on Day 1. Though the Fighting Irish have struggled some in recent years, they have continued to churn out prospects, with 41 Golden Domers having been drafted in this decade alone. While DB David Bruton will likely get drafted at some point today, he may wind up being the only Notre Dame player selected.

Another legendary football program taking a hit in this draft is Michigan. Just a year after a Wolverine (Jake Long) was drafted No. 1 overall, the Maize and Blue did not have a single player taken on the first day of the draft. A handful of Michigan players have the potential to get drafted on Day 2.

Though LSU had Tyson Jackson taken third overall, the Tigers have also lacked representation in this year’s draft. Since landing four players in the first round in 2007, LSU has only had one go in that round in each of the past two years. A number of Tigers are slated to go in the later rounds today.

On a positive note, Connecticut is making a little history of its own. The school had a record four players go in the first two rounds of the draft, including first-rounder Donald Brown. This reflects the Huskies’ recent rise to prominence in the Big East under coach Randy Edsall.

Boston loves it's sports and it's teams. One of the most baffling things I've ever seen was in 2004. The big mother fucking Metallica rock show was at the Garden in Boston and the show date was right smack dab in the middle of MLB playoff time. 2004 ring a bell baseball fans? It should...it's the year the Sox shook the "curse".

Well on the night of this big fucking rock show, the Red Sox were playing in the ALCS...for all you non baseball fans...all that pretty much means is if you win you go to the World Series. Well in the middle of the Garden they have those big video screens which are usually devoted to whatevers going on in the arena (for example...a Metallica concert). The darndest thing though...most people were ignoring the show and staring up at the screens watching the Sox play. That's right...the Metallica show had turned into a Red Sox viewing arena.

I love going to Boston during any sports teams playoff time. The city is painted in that teams colors. Banners and signs are fucking everywhere. Even the graffiti changes colors and styles to match the team and time of year.

That being said...the sports teams themselves have taken on a new tradition. You see, all pitchers and batters in Red Sox nation come out to their own individual theme songs. The Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon started coming out to the song "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" by the Dropkick Murphy's in 2007. He then did celebratory jigs to the song after multiple winning playoff series while being doused in alcohol and dancing in some undies. When Papelbon proceeded to perform the song with the Dropkick Murphy's at the World Series celebration parade the song was forever sealed in Boston sports.

Now Papelbon always comes out of the bullpen to this song and the Bruins play the song when a power play is about to begin. In fact, the song has spread throughout many sports and many teams outside of Boston.

The reason I bore you with all of this is because in 12 hours the Celtics tip off the playoffs and attempt to defend their championship. They started playing the song during the timeouts of the NBA finals last year. Now they play it after every win. 35 times the Celtics have played the song this year. My hope is that the song is played many more times before the playoffs are over.

Saturday at noon - Connecticut plays Buffalo in Toronto for the "International Bowl" and Doug Flutie will be a commentator!
4:30 - Atlanta travels to Arizona to kick off the NFL playoffs.
8:00 - Indy travels to San Diego where I have the privilege to see two teams I hate beat on each other.

Sunday at 1:00 - Baltimore travels to Miami where the Dolphins try to prove that they deserved the AFC East championship over my Pats.
4:30 - Eagles at Minnesota...the lame duck game of the week but a nice way to wind down.

Just playin around with posting on the touch screen iPod. The screen really fails and makes a TON of mistakes. Oh well...not my iPod not my problem.

Edit: Also shot for battery life. D'oh! Lame!

Snow day...

Today it is snowing. Snowing a lot. This means that it is the ultimate lazy day. So in the effort to explain what a lazy day looks like for me I'm going to list everything I've done today.

*Awoke around 11 AM
*Whatched AOTS and surfed the interwebs
*Played a couple games against my sis on NBA 2K9 and ran through a campaign on Left 4 Dead
*Went and had lunch with my dad and chit chatted
*Back to my room to watch some documentary called "Tech Fight Club" and some "King Of The Hill"

I will most likely continue to watch the tube until it is dark enough to turn off the lights so it'll be really creepy for some "Condemned 2" gaming. Then I shall make some dinner and watch some Celtics. Good times. I may also go outside and take some snow pics. I'll post those later if I have the energy.
